It’s that time of the year again where the world’s most glamourous fashion houses flood Milan with their latest collections. We round up the 5 brands to look out for at Milan Fashion Week this season.

Gucci

As part of the Italian “bratpack” of luxury fashion brands, Gucci® never fails to impress with their creative yet classic aesthetic. Past collections have seen influences from aristocratic style blended with androgynous elements – think men’s suits in silk. This year, Gucci will debut their latest wares on the first day of Milan Fashion Week and no doubt to the relief of fashionistas worldwide who are dying to catch a glimpse of their latest collection.

Emporio Armani

Emporio Armani®  is one of the diffusion lines of the Armani brand which remains largely designed by Giorgio Armani. It’s mainly known for its trademark fractured eagle logo, but well-versed fashionistas will be aware that it also has a different aesthetic from some of the other Italian fashion houses. Clean lines, simple structures and muted palettes are some of the values which define this brand. The result?  A focus on quality craftsmanship, tailoring and interesting textures.

Prada

Did you know that Miuccia Prada spent five years as a mime before taking the reins and managing her family’s fashion empire? With a background as jazzy as that, it’s no wonder the designs of Prada® always err on the right side of eccentric fashion…only Miuccia Prada can combine classic, oversized sunnies with a dash of architectural flair to produce unique styles like the ‘Baroque’ sunglasses. We will be most definitely keeping an eye out for her innovative and trailblazing designs.

Versace

Versace® has never subscribed to the notion of blending into the background. Donatella Versace’s family-owned brand is well-known for its sexy silhouettes, often punctuated with eye-popping colours and prints. The last few Versace collections however, have seen a slight departure from the slightly garish 70s disco style to designs which are tempered with feminine elements including polka dots and shift dresses.

Fendi

Casual chic and standout accessories (including sunglasses) are some of the aesthetic elements of the Fendi brand. After collaborating with Beats by Dr. Dre and fashion heavyweights like Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi has become just that more cool.  Olivia Palermo and Miroslava Duma are some of the A-list trendsetters who have been spotted at front row for their most recent shows, so in addition to checking out what Fendi have in store for this season, we’ll be looking forward to the buzz once the show is over.
